Pastor Kenny Lawhorne
When Kenneth was 9 years old his grandfather, an evangelist, prophesied that he would become a preacher. Kenneth felt the supernatural calling from the Lord but ran from it for years. He joined the US Navy in 1966 served a term in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1969 due to a service related injury. After returning home he attended and graduated from Central VA Community College with an Associate’s degree in Machine tool technology. Following his education there he worked as multi-craft maintenance in 3 large industries in Lynchburg VA until retiring in 2005.
In 1995 he received confirmation from the Lord that he was truly called to be a pastor. Kenneth finally submitted to the calling by his Lord and Savior and began his study in the school of ministry in the Appalachian conference, where he earned his licensing credentials. While serving in the Appalachian conference he was pastor of an inner city church, Tree Of Life, White Rock. He and his wife, Tommie served there for 5 years, they both feel this was the most challenging and rewarding work they have ever done. He was then sent to revitalize the Appomattox PH church in Appomattox VA. This was an effort between the Appalachian Conference and Redemption Ministry Conference. During that time Kenneth continued his studies in the School of Ministries in the redemption Ministry Conference and was ordained in 2006. He retired from the church in Appomattox in 2012.
Kenneth has served Redemption Ministry Conference as a member of the MCC Committee and is now the Conference Treasurer of the CEC Council.
Kenneth and Tommie have been married for 21 years. They have 4 children and 5 grandchildren including twins, all of whom they love and adore.
